For our Department EOD we are urgently looking for experienced freelance EOD specialists with a good knowledge of ordnance both from WW1 and WW2 which we can deploy for various temporary EOD related tasks.

Both self-employed persons and persons who want to work under a contract of temporary duration or for a particular work can apply.

In search of Freelance-EOD specialists

  • Staking out the detected anomalies on site with GPS equipment and portable magnetometers (Vallon – Schonstedt).
  • UXO-clearance through controlled approach of a buried suspected targets in collaboration with blast protected excavators owned by Braet and operated by Braet’s specialised operators. These tasks can be performed both on land and on water.
  • EOD-UXO monitoring with portable detection equipment during earthmoving operations by third parties.
  • Identifying the unearthed anomalies and performing an on-site risk assessment according to their potential hazard.
  • Contacting the Police and DOVO (Demining Section of Belgium Defense) at find of UXO. Briefing and assisting DOVO upon their arrival on site.
  • Preparation of daily reports.


EXTRA

  • Performing small-scale ferromagnetic UXO-surveys with our own Vallon detection equipment and our RTK-DGPS for positioning.
  • Interpretation of the data acquired during these surveys with Vallon EVA-2000 software.
  • Technical support to the project management in preparing a work plan and risk assessment that are specific for each job.

What do we expect from you?

  • You followed a military EOD training (BE or abroad) and/or has a certificate of (Assistant) OCE-expert for projects in a team and/or a certificate of Senior OCE-expert for independent projects in accordance with the Dutch WSCS-OCE guidelines.
  • You have a thorough evident knowledge of the ammunition types that were used during WW1 and WW2 in Belgium and surrounding countries.
  • You have a VCA-certificate (or equivalent COSHH) or are willing to take an exam.
  • You have preferably followed a first aid training or are prepared to follow one.
  • You are conscientious and are able to follow strictly the terms of the plan of work and the internal work instructions.
  • You are communicative enough for keeping contacts with management, colleagues and field staff.
  • You are practical and eager to learn new skills.
  • You are functioning very well in a team.
  • You like to work in an outdoor setting.
  • You are holder of a European driving license B.
  • You may require a certificate of good conduct and morals.
  • EOD-diving skills is a plus.
  • Experience in interpreting the digitised magnetic survey results with Vallon EVA2000 UXO-software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the preventive measures for toxic ammunition is a plus.
